  • Increased relaxation

  • Reduced anxiety

  • Reduced pain

  • Improved blood flow to internal organs and areas of the body

  • Increased oxygen saturation

  • Lowered respiratory rate

  • Decreased heart rate and blood pressure

A series of treatments can improve health overall by:

  • Improving kidney function, thereby increasing waste product elimination

  • Improving  digestion  and  relieving  constipation

  • Easing PMS and menopausal problems and helping to balance hormone production

  • Improves the function of the immune system and lymphatic functions

  • Improving circulation, cholesterol and blood sugar balance

  • Improves sleep

  • Help to increase or balance energy levels

  • Improve stress, anxiety and depression related conditions

Reflexology has proven to help you feel better through   increasing   relaxation,   and   reducing pain.

It can help to promote healing the body by the improving  symptoms of certain health concerns and enhance the effects of medical care e.g. reduce the side effects of chemotherapy, help to stabilise blood glucose levels which is therefore beneficial in diabetes, helps to normalise blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

Reflexology can help your body function better by improving blood flow to the tissues of organs and areas of the body which cannot normally be reached by non invasive methods, or drugs.

It can also have a positive impact on psychological activity, by improving brain function and  help  in  conditions  where  stress, anxiety and depression are a factor.

It is shown to be a valuable therapy used in conjunction with areas of special care, such as in cancer care, by reducing pain, nausea and vomiting.

Also by facilitating easier deliveries in childbirth showing the need for less analgesia as well as aiding the recovery from post partum depression and anxiety

Reiki

Reiki (Ray-Key) – a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy, is the vital life energy which flows through all living things and which can be activated for the purposes of healing.  It dates back to about 1000BC and was rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui in the 19th Century.

How does Reiki Work?

Reiki encourages your body’s natural ability to heal itself and is channelled through the practitioners’ hands.  The Reiki energy will then go as deeply into your body as it needs, gently helping it to restore itself.

What happens at a treatment?

A Reiki treatment is simple, safe, non-intrusive, gentle yet powerful.  You lie down fully clothes and comfortable on a treatment table.  Each hand position is held for several minutes as the need requires – starting with the head and face followed by the shoulders, arms, truck, legs and feet.  Allow about an hour

There is no pressure – making it ideal if you are elderly, very young, a pregnant mum or recovering from surgery.

Because the whole body is treated fully the energy of Reiki can go right to the source of any imbalance and not simply to the manifesting symptoms, peacefully and gently restoring harmony.

What help can Reiki give?

Reiki is particularly good for treating stress, anxiety and bereavement issues but there is no health problem – physical, mental or emotional = for which Reiki cannot offer relief and frequent release.  It is a completely safe holistic way of lessening dis-ease, complementing most kind of medical treatment

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on your personal level of health and why you choose Reiki.  Your own attitude to your need for dis-ease is always a contributory factor together with the amount of time you are willing to devote to achieving your own optimum level of well-being.  For a quick boost of energy – one session may be sufficient; the longer you have had a health imbalance the longer it could take to release it.  Whilst there is no hard fast rule – three fairly consecutive treatments are usually recommended

Indian Head Massage

Indian head massage (IHM) is a Hindu massage technique, tracing back to the ancient ways of Ayurvedic Indian health care. Used for over 4,000 years to improve overall health, this massage has become more and more prevalent in recent years. It is also known as champissage or shiroabhyanga.

How the IHM works

The practice focuses on the parts of the body that are most prone to tension and stress:

  • scalp

  • face

  • neck

  • arms

  • shoulders

  • upper back

Indian head massage combines techniques to include various massage strokes and acupressure points. Treatment includes kneading and probing of the neck and shoulder areas. The scalp is then massaged, using squeezing, tapping, rubbing or prodding motions.

The therapist will also manipulate facial pressure points to relieve sinus pressure, increase alertness and stimulate circulation. A patient's ears may then be pressed and tugged, and their hair tousled.

Conditions IHM helps treat

Through a variety of massage movements, Indian head massage also restores joint motion and aids in the condition and health of hair resulting in improved hair growth.

Indian head massage is used by massage therapists to increase mental clarity and rejuvenate the person receiving the massage. Although treatments include massage of the back, arms, shoulders and neck, head massage and face massage make up the main parts of the treatment.

The therapist typically performs IHM through the clothes. As the technique is easy to apply over a blouse or shirt, Indian head massage is ideal for people who are modest or for less able bodied such as the elderly people, or those who have arthritis or a disability. Some treatments may include the use of special oils, which are also beneficial to hair growth.

Therapeutic and relaxing, Indian head massage is effective in treatment of stress-related ailments like migraines and headaches. It can be performed almost anywhere and requires less time than a body massage treatment, typically lasting about thirty to forty minutes.

More benefits of IHM

The benefits of Indian head massage include that it helps release of toxins from tense and knotted muscles, and improves oxygen flow to the brain. It also reduces jaw ache, stimulates lymphatic drainage and aids sleep. By stimulating the release of endorphins IHM also aids in reducing stress and anxiety, and alleviating mental tiredness. The treatment is especially effective in relieving tightness around the neck and shoulders.

Hopi Ear Candling

Ear candles are used widely throughout North America and Asia and although the current treatment has come to use from the Hopi tribe.  The use of ear candles to treat ear problems has been known for centuries, having been used by the Egyptians, Romans and Greeks

What are Hopi Candles?

Hopi Ear Candles are hollow tubes made of cotton, soaked in beeswax, honey and herbs. When lit, the candle acts like a chimney, causing the warm air inside it to rise and creating a vacuum at the bottom. This treatment is completely painless and helps to rebalance the ear by drawing out impurities. It is important to note that the candle does not suck wax out of the ear; it stimulates the ear to eliminate the wax naturally, ensuring maximum safety and a natural alternative to syringing

What are the benefits?

Hopi candles can be used for many conditions including deafness caused by excess wax, congested sinuses, and irritation in the ears, ringing or noises in the ears, tinnitus, rhinitis, glue ear, colds, flu, headaches and migraines, hay fever. As their action is so gentle, they are particularly suitable for children.

What are the effects?

In most cases the treatment is extremely soothing and relaxing, leaving the patient with a sense of well-being and reduced pressure in the ears or head.

The initial effect can be an improvement in hearing or freer nasal breathing and an improved sense of smell. However, improvements can continue occurring for a day or two.

"Chunsoo" Treatments

Chunsoo energy treatments use acupressure points that are pressed all over the body to stimulate energy and blood flow whilst using a breathing technique to open the energy channels and transmit Qi into the body. The sound made by the practitioner is a specific sound that has a vibration that travels much deeper into the body than touch alone.

Benefits of Chunsoo Treatments

The treatment helps to release tension, stress and pain, detoxifies the body and has a calming effect on the mind. It also helps to promote the body’s own natural healing ability by reinforcing the flow of Qi.

Chunsoo treatments are suitable for all ages and are received fully clothed. A course of treatments can support the recovery from various health conditions and can also be an effective energy boost, helping you maintain and enhance your general wellbeing.

Chunsoo Treatments are available monthly on Saturdays by Practitioners from Jung Shim in London
